Back in December, we reported on the opening of the Ludothek global on the ground floor of the new Berlin Global Village building. Time for a first résumé.

Some people may know a Ludothek as a place where you can borrow board games and other parlour games or play them right there, a kind of library, only full of games instead of books. You can also play in the Ludothek global, but in addition to classics such as Ludo, you will find many special games and toys from all over the world, colourful, produced in an ecologically compatible way, many fairly traded, made for children with and without disabilities from 0 to approx. 10 years.

We are happy to have the Ludothek global, supported by Fördern durch Spielmittel e.V., in the Berlin Global Village. For our centrum, which is so much more than an office building with its rooms for now 50 development and migrant-diasporic NGOs, the Ludothek global is a showcase and attraction for families from the neighbourhood. Currently, the Ludothek global is open every Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 3 to 6 pm for parents and other caregivers with children from 0 to 6 years. The team of the Ludothek global develops further activities according to demand. To this purpose, they have established a good network both within the centrum and in the neighbouring districts.

A first leisure programme for children and young people from the neighbourhood was offered by Ludothek global in cooperation with the Quartiersmanagement of the FlughafenstraßenviertelMorus 14 e.V. and the AWO Falk Club with funding from the „Kultur macht stark“ programme in the autumn holidays of 2021: Together, they explored the urban nature on the Kindl grounds and creatively processed their impressions with the help of various felting techniques.

There have also been successful collaborations with organisations in the building. For example, during the Easter holidays that have just ended, the KiJuFi holiday school took place, which was aimed at children with language support needs. This was a cooperation between kijufi – Landesverband Kinder- und Jugendfilm Berlin e. V. with Fördern mit Spielmittel e.V. and Berlin Global Village gGmbH. This is just one example of the possibilities of combining themes in-house and making them accessible at this special place in the centrum. Other ideas are in the making, such as offering childcare for events that take place in the event spaces located on the same corridor.

Due to Corona, the offer is currently limited. Admission during opening hours is limited to a maximum of 15 people from up to 5 households at a time.

For the protection of ALL, the 3G regulation still applies for all visitors* aged 18 and over.
Admission only for fully vaccinated or recovered persons or proof of a current, negative rapid test (result max. 24 hours old) and wearing an FFP2 mask.
